Iris Folding - Flower basket - General purpose card
I've been doing a bit of Iris Folding lately as I'm running a card making class for a friend of mine (and her crafty buddies) next weekend. One of the cards I'm teaching is iris folding. At this stage this will be the card we make as its one of the easiest designs with all straight cutting lines. It's also versatile and can be used as an easter card - just replace the flowers with punched out oval circles for easter eggs.Sunday, January 30, 2011
Iris Folding - Frog amongst the flowers
If you look at past posts you will see I really love the technique 'Iris Folding'. From time to time I give it a break but when I do come back to it (and I always do) I remember why I enjoy it. You can make your main image as busy or simple as you like, and each one turns out so unique.Below is a close up of the iris folding frog.

Josephs Coat Technique - Male birthday card

These pictures don't show how lovely this technique is. I came across an online demo of this technique and decided to give it a go. I challenged myself at the beginning of January that I was going to focus on male cards. Truth is I'm not good a male cards, it's hard to be inspired using the same colours etc.
This technique is basically an emboss resist type technique. I started with white card stock and sponged the background in various colours (must be light shades, 3-5 different colours max). Then I stamped the 'leaf' image using clear Versamark ink and used clear embossing powder and heat set the image. Then using the darker ink (navy) I sponged the navy over the entire card (including the leaf images). I then wiped off the ink over the leaves to reveal the multi-coloured sponging underneathe. The navy resisted the card due to the embossing. Simple but very effective.
